The Crossing

After grabbing a snack on one of the large logs, it is time to prepare the feet for a cold crossing of Whitepine Creek.

There was once a bridge just past this site, but it washed out decades ago. Few traces remain. The ford can be intimidating and bitterly cold, even dangerous at times, and it us usually enough to discourage casual hikers. The creek bed has rounded slippery rocks that can be treacherous for bare toes, but we were equipped and ready. The unusually meek and mild conditions made the crossing uneventful.
