Off-trail Return

By the time we worked our way back out of the Peggy's Pond area, evening was approaching, and we didn't have enough time to continue down to Squaw Lake as originally planned. No matter, we weren't going to miss anything, just take things in a different order. The sun was already dropped behind the ridge, leaving us in shadows.

I couldn't locate the spot I had previously identified to leave the main Cathedral Pass trail and head back to camp via a relatively easy cross-country route. But, as it turned out, we found a much better departure point over easier terrain. Soon we were on route and approaching the opposite end of Wince Lake.
