The "Octopus Tree"

An ankle-bending, but fortunately not long, trudge on the irregular rocky surface of an ancient 4-wheel-drive access road takes you to the Wilderness boundary at a rickety bridge. Not too far beyond this, you reach this landmark that I have dubbed "the octopus tree." Unfortunately, this old cedar lost its longest limbs to a freak ice storm a few winters ago. Chelsea was volunteered to be the human yardstick to give an idea of how big this old guy is.
