Guidebook references
There are other sources of trail information out there.
I always find second and third opinions about various locations
informative — even when they are basically wrong.
Sometimes it seems like details don't quite match up with the
actual location, as if the author was repeating second-hand
information. Other times, they are right, but it is no longer
so obvious because the degradation has been so rapid and pervasive,
leaving the poor guidebooks no chance of staying current.
In order to be cited, guidebooks must have specific coverage.
"Also connects to" is not sufficient.
On this site, references to these books are by means of the
local reference code shown in the table below.
